Our Walkshops

Transformational Walkshops in the mountains for Leaders and Teams who want to connect as humans, find clarity and rediscover their sense of adventure

Are you wandering the same old paths?

We are working in an environment today where we are under increasing pressure to inspire and connect with our teams, in a world that seems to be more connected than ever, yet where we are feeling increasingly isolated.

Global workforces and remote working has led to incredible technological breakthroughs, and is laden with so many advantages in terms of time and cost-savings, yet with a focus on getting more done for less, we find we lack the time taken to actually grow the bonds that keep our company strong.

It is easy to fall into habits and routines that tune out connection, relationships and long-term strategic thinking, as we get sucked into the fires and the ever-growing to-do lists.

Our Walkshops are designed to address this by taking your teams into the mountains, away from the desk and every-day issues, and into environments scientifically proven to enhance creative thinking, reduce stress, and create conditions for the conversations that rarely happen in the office or on a screen.

Each of our Walkshops naturally mirrors leadership challenges - navigating uncertainty, supporting each other through challenging terrain, making decisions with limited information, and finding resilience and determination when energy reserves run low.

This is team building with a (literal!) edge, creating space for your leaders to reconnect with themselves, each other, and the clarity needed to lead effectively in complex times.

Big change requires Big Thinking, which doesn’t happen in small rooms

Why Mountains Matter for Modern Leadership

Mountains have always represented challenge, perspective, and achievement - qualities at the heart of effective leadership teams.

But something else happens out in the mountains. Something that on the surface can seem quite magical - the ease at which deep and very honest conversations flow, the shedding of the mental load, the perspective you get from putting distance between you and your problems, and the flow of new ideas that seemingly comes from nowhere.

What seems like magic is actually obvious when you think about it. When we disconnect from our screens and leave our square-walled offices and remote-working desks and connect as humans, we venture out into an environment which is so incredibly familiar.

Because it’s here, outdoors - on the plains, amongst the trees and in the mountains - where our bodies and minds evolved.

We were designed to think at our best out here, to survive, to thrive, to connect with our tribe and solve problems in these enviornments. So it’s no wonder that study after study is unearthing the powerful effects that outdoor thinking has on us.

Our Walkshops harness the power of the Mountain to free your teams’ thinking, connect as humans and create memorable shared adventures that will shift your thinking and leave a lasting impact on your business as you return to the office.

Build unshakeable bonds

A day tackling the mountains will get your team talking and build strong bonds that last for life.

With a whole day together, conversations cut deep and discussions are raw and honest, yet overcoming the challenges of the day as one team, and supporting each other every step of the way will build unshakeable trust.

Innovate Together

Our day together is ring-fenced time and space, free from the distractions that interrupt our thinking, and stop our flow.

We use this undilluted space and time to look at the bigger picture, think strategically and create a shared vision, aligned to who we are

Get some headspace

The mountains are a natural sanctuary from the pressures of everday work life, and an antidote to the ‘always on’ culture.

As we ascend and put physical distance between us and the valley below, we also put distance between ourselves and the every day fires that overwhlem us and keep us small.

As we unburden our minds, we get a new clarity, a fresh perspective and new insights into the problems that we’ve been carrying.

Got Questions? Check out our Meet Your Mountain FAQ

  • A. No, the walkshop does not include accommodation. We can send you some recommendations in the local area for each Walkshop.

  • A. Ah, the important question! We do not provide food for the Walkshops. We recommend a good breakfast before each adventure, and a lunch and snacks containing a decent number of calories, that doesn't take up too much space in your bag. After each Walkshop there will be a wrap-up in the local pub/cafe

  • A. Each adventure is different, but on the whole, Walkshops have been arranged to start in locations where parking is available. Sometimes early start times are reflective of the need to get to the car park early, before it is full!

For public transport options, please get in touch. Most meeting points are accessible via a local bus service, but will require some co-ordination, and probably an overnight stay.

  • A. This depends on where the Walkshop is held, and where you are travelling from. I travel from Leeds, and would say that for me, staying over the night before for adventures in Scotland is essential, highly desirable for adventures in Wales, and optional for adventures in the Lake District. The LATEST that any of our Walkshops will start is 0930, so please bear this in mind when making plans

  • A. We carry some convenient foam seats to allow us to hunker down in nature when we need to do some drawing and writing. For group sessions in wetter weather, we carry a tarp that we can set up to be able to shelter and draw any diagrams/nice pictures/plans for world domination.

Please do bring paper and a pencil to write on.

  • A. Where possible, we will meet in a local cafe prior to each Walkshop. We will aim to walk directly from the cafe if we can; in some cases it may be a short drive to the start point. You may wish to car-share with other participants to save money/congestion or reduce the environmental impact.

  • A. Yes, all routes are circular, and start and end at the same point

  • A. A full guide of what to bring will be provided (and I have provided a video here), but generally if you already do any hill walking, you probably have everything you need. If you want to invest in good kit I would recommend these are your priorities (I honestly think everything else you can get on a budget):

    1. A good, comfy pair of walking boots, preferably with Vibram soles

    2. A decent lightweight waterproof jacket

    3. A comfy pair of hiking socks

  • A. If you do any hillwalking, particularly if you have been for longer walks over the course of a day, you will find the days challenging, but well within your capability. If you are not used to hillwalking, please get in touch once you have booked, and I can send over 2-3 practice routes local to you, to help to build up a level of fitness.

  • Not really a question, but yeah, I see where you are coming from. The Walkshops are really designed to challenge you, and keep you in that stretch zone, which will take your thinking to the next level.

There is a range of routes, with some quite tricky, so we’ll choose something that will not overwhelm your team, but will certainly stretch them.

  • A. No. All of the routes are 'walks', and do not require any prior technical climbing skills. Some of the routes cover some Grade 1 Scrambling ground - this is where you may need to use your hands to move over rock, and there may be some exposure. You will be guided over these obstacles where needed and coached on how to move securely over steeper ground.

  • A. Not on these ones I'm afraid - these are long days, with workshops throughout and sometimes tricky terrain - I'm not sure your dog will appreciate the adventure quite as much as you!

  • A. Yes - please get in touch with me for more information.
